Writing

I write across genres and media, including literary fiction, screenplays, stage plays, and non-fiction. Whether I am writing a short story, a feature script, or a brand campaign, my storytelling always starts and ends with a compelling character at its core, driving the story forward. The pieces below are recent work samples, available for your reading pleasure. Please reach out directly to request unpublished work.

Fiction Writing

Literary Novel – “White Fawn”

Complete / Genre: Literary Historical Fiction with Supernatural Elements / Length: 90,000 words

After a boy in Civil War-era North Carolina is captured by the Confederate deserters who gunned down his father out on the road in eastern North Carolina, he must navigate a twisting road littered with tragedies to find his way home; time and again he is forced to face the terrible realities of a war-torn world, and along the way, he encounters a strange spirit animal and a ghostly little girl. The novel blends history with magical realism in the style of so many of the stories I grew up with on the Outer Banks of NC.

Status: Complete manuscript, currently in submission to literary agents.
